Constant Electric Field in a Vacuum

Problem 3.24

The electric field strength depends only on the xx and yy coordinates according to the law E=a(xi+yj)/(x2+y2),\mathbf{E}=a(x \mathbf{i}+y \mathbf{j}) /\left(x^{2}+y^{2}\right), where aa is a constant, i\mathbf{i} and j\mathbf{j} are the unit vectors of the xx and yy axes. Find the flux of the vector E\mathbf{E} through a sphere of radius RR with its centre at the origin of coordinates.
