Electric Current

Problem 3.181

Find the magnitude and direction of the current flowing through the resistance RR in the circuit shown in Fig. 3.44 if the emf's of the sources are equal to E1=1.5 V\mathscr{E}_ {1}=1.5 \mathrm{~V} and E2=3.7 V\mathscr{E}_ {2}=3.7 \mathrm{~V} and the resistances are equal to R1=10Ω,R2=20Ω,R=5.0ΩR_{1}=10 \Omega, R_{2}=20 \Omega, R=5.0 \Omega. The internal resistances of the sources are negligible.

Reveal Answer
I=(R1E2R2E1)/(RR1+R1R2+R2R)=0.02 A, the current is directed from the left to the right (see Fig. 3.44).I=\left(R_{1} \mathscr{E}_{2}-R_{2} \mathscr{E}_{1}\right) /\left(R R_{1}+R_{1} R_{2}+R_{2} R\right)=0.02 \mathrm{~A}, \text { the current is directed from the left to the right (see Fig. 3.44).}
