Problem 2.54

One mole of an ideal gas with heat capacity at constant pressure CpC_{p} undergoes the process T=T0+αV,T=T_{0}+\alpha V, where T0T_{0} and α\alpha are constants. Find: (a) heat capacity of the gas as a function of its volume; (b) the amount of heat transferred to the gas, if its volume increased from V1V_{1} to V2V_{2}.

Reveal Answer
2.54. (a) C=Cp+RT0/αVC=C_{p}+R T_{0} / \alpha V (b) Q=αCp(V2V1)+Q=\alpha C_{p}\left(V_{2}-V_{1}\right)+ +RT0ln(V2/V1)+R T_{0} \ln \left(V_{2} / V_{1}\right)
