Problem 3.370

In an inertial reference frame KK there are two uniform mutually perpendicular fields: an electric field of strength E=40kV/mE=40 \mathrm{kV} / \mathrm{m} and a magnetic field induction B=0.20mTB=0.20 \mathrm{mT}. Find the electric strength EE^{\prime} (or the magnetic induction BB^{\prime} ) in the reference frame KK^{\prime} where only one field, electric or magnetic, is observed.

Instruction. Make use of the field invariants cited in the foregoing problem.

Reveal Answer
B=B1(E/cB)20.15mTB^{\prime}=B \sqrt{1-(E / c B)^{2}} \approx 0.15 \mathrm{mT}
