Problem 3.270

A small current-carrying coil having a magnetic moment pm\mathbf{p}_ {m} is located at the axis of a round loop of radius RR with current I\boldsymbol{I} flowing through it. Find the magnitude of the vector force applied to the coil if its distance from the centre of the loop is equal to xx and the vector pm\mathbf{p}_ {m} coincides in direction with the axis of the loop.

Reveal Answer
F=(μ0/4π)6πR2Ipmx/(R2+x2)5/2F=\left(\mu_{0} / 4 \pi\right) 6 \pi R^{2} I p_{m} x /\left(R^{2}+x^{2}\right)^{5 / 2}
