Problem 2.33

Calculate the value of \(\gamma=C_{p} / C_{V}\) for a gaseous mixture consisting of \(v_{1}=2.0\) moles of oxygen and \(v_{2}=3.0\) moles of carbon dioxide. The gases are assumed to be ideal.

Reveal Answer
γ=v1γ1(γ21)+v2γ2(γ11)v1(γ21)+v2(γ11)=1.33\gamma=\frac{v_{1} \gamma_{1}\left(\gamma_{2}-1\right)+v_{2} \gamma_{2}\left(\gamma_{1}-1\right)}{v_{1}\left(\gamma_{2}-1\right)+v_{2}\left(\gamma_{1}-1\right)}=1.33
