Problem 2.33

Calculate the value of γ=Cp/CV\gamma=C_{p} / C_{V} for a gaseous mixture consisting of v1=2.0v_{1}=2.0 moles of oxygen and v2=3.0v_{2}=3.0 moles of carbon dioxide. The gases are assumed to be ideal.

Reveal Answer
γ=v1γ1(γ21)+v2γ2(γ11)v1(γ21)+v2(γ11)=1.33\gamma=\frac{v_{1} \gamma_{1}\left(\gamma_{2}-1\right)+v_{2} \gamma_{2}\left(\gamma_{1}-1\right)}{v_{1}\left(\gamma_{2}-1\right)+v_{2}\left(\gamma_{1}-1\right)}=1.33
