Problem 2.29

Gaseous hydrogen contained initially under standard conditions in a sealed vessel of volume \(V=5.0 \mathrm{l}\) was cooled by \(\Delta T\) \(=55 \mathrm{~K}\). Find how much the internal energy of the gas will change and what amount of heat will be lost by the gas.

Reveal Answer
ΔU=p0VΔT/T0(γ1)=0.25 kJ,Q=ΔU\Delta U=-p_{0} V \Delta T / T_{0}(\gamma-1)=-0.25 \mathrm{~kJ}, Q^{\prime}=-\Delta U
