Problem 2.164

The diameter of a gas bubble formed at the bottom of a pond is \(d=4.0 \mu \mathrm{m} .\) When the bubble rises to the surface its diameter increases \(n=1.1\) times. Find how deep is the pond at that spot. The atmospheric pressure is standard, the gas expansion is assumed to be isothermal.

Reveal Answer
h=[p0(n81)+4α(n21)/d]/ρg=5 mh=\left[p_{0}\left(n^{8}-1\right)+4 \alpha\left(n^{2}-1\right) / d\right] / \rho g=5 \mathrm{~m}
