Dynamics of a solid body

Problem 1.254

Thin threads are tightly wound on the ends of a uniform solid cylinder of mass m.m . The free ends of the threads are attached to the ceiling of an elevator car. The car starts going up with an acceleration w0\mathbf{w}_{0}. Find the acceleration w\mathbf{w}^{\prime} of the cylinder relative to the car and the force FF exerted by the cylinder on the ceiling (through the threads).

Reveal Answer
w=2/3( gw0),F=1/3m( gw0)\mathbf{w}^{\prime}=2 / 3\left(\mathrm{~g}-\mathbf{w}_{0}\right), \mathbf{F}=1 / 3 m\left(\mathrm{~g}-\mathbf{w}_{0}\right)
