The Fundamental Equation of Dynamics

Problem 1.105

A particle of mass mm moves in a certain plane PP due to a force FF whose magnitude is constant and whose vector rotates in that plane with a constant angular velocity ω.\omega . Assuming the particle to be stationary at the moment t=0,t=0, find: (a) its velocity as a function of time; (b) the distance covered by the particle between two successive stops, and the mean velocity over this time.

Reveal Answer
1.105. (a) v=(2F/mω)sin(ωt/2);v=(2 F / m \omega)|\sin (\omega t / 2)| ; (b) Δs=8F/mω2,v=\Delta s=8 F / m \omega^{2}, \quad\langle v\rangle= =4F/πmω.=4 F / \pi m \omega .
