The Fundamental Equation of Dynamics

Problem 1.103

A body of mass \(m\) rests on a horizontal plane with the friction coefficient \(k\). At the moment \(t=0\) a horizontal force is applied to it, which varies with time as \(\mathbf{F}=\mathbf{a} t,\) where a is a constant vector. Find the distance traversed by the body during the first t seconds after the force action began

Reveal Answer
1.103. \(s=1 / 6 a\left(t-t_{0}\right)^{3} / m,\) where \(t_{0}=k m g / a\) is the moment of time at which the motion starts. At \(t \leqslant t_{0}\) the distance is \(s=0\)
